Around the House

I just thought that I would share a few photos of things we are doing around the house.

We removed some towel holders that were stuck to our bathroom walls. They are supposed to go on tile so it ended up taking some of the well with it. The next thing on the list was to spackle. The really cool thing is that there is a type of spackle that is pink and when it dries it turns white... dummy proof. Just how I like it! I have also primed the bathroom walls and painting is tomorrow's endeavor.










I painted our bedroom walls. They were a grey/blue color and since our furniture and accessories are burnt orange and brown, it didn't match very well. I painted the walls a brown color called "Gobi Desert". It turned out pretty well for my first time painting.

Finally, Brian has had to mow the lawn. With Volleyball in the way, we don't mow as often as we'd like. The neighbors haven't complained yet and ours isn't by any means the longest in the neighborhood. Grandpa's lawn mower has come in handy. It works well and Brian has been taking pride in keeping things looking good.

By the way..... I still haven't found the cable that connects my camera to the computer. I had to go and buy a new one :) Good thing they are not too expensive!

Speeding Ticket.....

Well my 3 years are up since I last got my speeding ticket. I was destined to get one sooner or later. I was driving down 169 laughing at the talk radio station that I listen to and whoops there is an unmarked cop car sitting there waiting for me. I had no idea how fast I was driving. He told me 71 in a 55. I totally deserved the ticket. It was cheaper than my last one 3 year ago (different county).

As my punishment for myself, I had to work extra to pay the speeding ticket. So Thursday I worked from 6:30 AM to 11:45 PM. I am also going in on Monday morning at 4:00AM and working until 3:30 pm. That should give me enough money to pay for it and a bit of punishment for my feet since we are on our feet all day.

I really need to learn to set my cruise more often.

Delusional car.....

My car seems to have a mind of it's own. The reason that it didn't work is this: It thought that I was trying to steal it. Strange since I own it. It turns out that the security system that was built into the car was activated which means that it woouldn't turn over. I ended up getting it towed and then the auto repair place was able to diagnose it. It turns out they reset the security system and they advised me it it happens again relatively soon that I will have to replace a part in the security system that costs around $250. Luckily a week later and I have not had that issue again. On the chance that I will jinx myself... problem solved!

Car troubles...

So it's 0718 in the morning..... you might be thinking; why isn't Heidi at work? Well, I am all showered and in my scrubs but the funny thing is, I can't get there. When I went to start my car at 0615 this morning, it didn't turn over. The lights and radio are working fine, but they don't really do me any good when the car doesn't actually move. In my haste and panic, I thought it was the battery and since Brian had just left 5 minutes earlier, I called him to come back and help me. After pushing my car out of the garage so that we could hook the jumper cables up to it, he realized that I had been incorrect and it was probably my starter. So I have already made Brian late for work, but here I sit waiting for the garage to call me back to see if they can get me in. That brings me to another question. Why don't garages open at 0600? I would think that they would like to get off earlier and when people have issues in the morning, isn't it really early?

Wish me luck, I think that I am going to need it :)

Well I have many things to show you pictures of.... but.... you don't get to see them yet. I seem to have misplaced the cable that downloads my pictures onto the computer during the move.

Our departed little furry friends...

In hopes that you won't think that we are disgusting pigs, I want to share a picture with you....

These are almonds that went missing from the counter awhile back. As you can see by the indentations in the carpet, there was a piece of furniture there, a bookcase to be exact. So I am guilty of not always moving all of the furniture when vacuuming. But really who does?

So back to our furry friends. Our previous dwelling was a quad home. Our neighbor directly next to us up and moved out one week. That next weekend we just happened to be gone. Prior to that weekend we had always stored food on the counter, due to lack of storage, with no adverse consequences. When we got back, I noticed that the almonds that had been in a plastic bag were gone and there was a hole chewed in it. Needless to say we figured we had been infested with mice. We proceeded to catch 13 mice over the next week, sometimes multiple in a day. I think that we eventually caught them all and now months later....

The Move....

I know that it has been a long time since I posted.... no excuses but I'll let you in on why. First of all, I'm sure that you will all be as happy as I am that I passed my boards for Medical Technology. I am now certified. Yea for me!

Secondly and hence the title of the post, we have moved into our first house! The inspection, loan, and closing all went very smoothly. The previous owner was very meticulous and kept the house spotless! We were very impressed. He even left a bottle of champagne for us for when we moved in.

We closed on a Friday, played in a volleyball tournament on Saturday and moved on Sunday. It was a jam packed weekend, but we had a great time. I know what you are thinking..... you played in a volleyball tournament the day before you moved? Yep we did, that is how we got our moving help. Our friends Kim and Dan told us that if we played in the tourney that they would help us move. Dan is a cabinet maker and had a large truck. It only took 2 trips and we were moved. Unfortunately I was not really thinking about taking pictures during the move so I don't have any of the actual process, but here are some staged ones, and of course the aftermath.














I wish that I could say that the boxes have disappeared, but alas they have not. We are still working on the process that seems to be taking forever. I will try and keep you updated!
